Athena Adoption Application Pet Inquiry Form

Hi! My name is Athena.  I am 1.5-2 yo and weigh about 45 lbs. I was turned into the rescue because my owners moved away and left me in a dog lot.  A friend of the family was coming over and feeding me every day.  I lived in the house till I was about 6 months old and then I was confined to a dog lot because of my abundant energy and lack of indoor manners.  My owners did not work with me at all on basic obedience or leash walking. When I first came into the rescue, I would drag the foster all over the yard while on leash, jump up on people for petting,  and was wide open  with no house manners when indoors.  I am now working with a trainer and I am quickly learning to heel/sit, not to jump on people, and basic obedience. I am working on house training.  I'm very treat oriented and take treats gently. I am much calmer  and much better behaved indoors  after my sessions with the trainer because I've had enough exercise for that day. I really want to please, I just need to know what is expected of me.  I need a home  with someone  that is active and can provide  plenty of daily exercise for me.  I also need to continue my training so that I can be  the best  companion possible.  The rescue would really like for me to go to a family with Husky experience.  I need a fenced yard so that I can run around and play. A playmate would be great also! I get along well with other dogs. I am a sweet, loving girl, and absolutely love to be petted. I'm happy to take all of the attention that I can get! I met one of the volunteers in a wheelchair, and had no fear of her. I went right to her and sniffed her chair and let her pet me. I am like a diamond in the rough!   I am patiently waiting for my right forever home!
